After a long weekend, it's time for a fresh post. Here is a S38B38 out of a late E34 M5. This is definetely a unique powerplant considering that importing a B38 M5 in the US is still a little pricey due to the 25 year rule.
The first year we will be able to get one here without federalization will be in 2017, since the S38B38 was introduce in late '91 which by paper makes the car a 1992 model. A quick tip for you - all E34 M5 tourings were S38B38 starting 1992.
The engine comes with DME and engine harness. Any G280 transmission should work. This is a great upgrade for an E24 M635csi, E28 M5 or E34 M5. Of course you can always drop it in a regular chassis, it will just require more work.
For a 40k miles engine this might be a great deal considering the amount of work/$$$ required for refreshing your old tired S38B35 (speaking from personal experience).

This motor was bought 10 years ago while visiting Sweden. It was purchased from a Swedish BMW dismantler. The motor is a low mileage engine with around 40k miles and came right from a running E34 M5 euro. It was bought for a project, but was never used. The motor has not been installed in a vehicle since returning to the states. It is very clean on both the inside and outside. Come on down and have a look!
