The M5 obsession

Again it has been a while since I have posted anything fresh. By now you know I am mostly inclined in tracking two chassis very dear to my heart - E28 and E34. Both ads below are M5s.

I would like that red E34 to be my DD.

Slightly higher mileage, but still reasonable pricing. I think it's a great color combo and who stops you one day to add an nice hurricane interior. If the seller has maintenance records he can definitely justify his asking price.

Looking to sell my extremely rare 1988 M5. These cars were 100 percent hand built by a team of engineers over a period of 2 weeks. These cars are becoming very hard to find, and values are climbing very quickly. Here is your opportunity to get what will be a very collectible classic for years to come. They only imported the E28 M5 one year, and they are even lower production than the E30 M3. The car has recently received a ton of brand new OEM parts totaling $6k. Entire suspension has been gone through, brakes have been completely rebuilt, new stainless brake lines, filters, ignition components, hood latches and hood latch cable, alignment, wheels and tires balanced, professionally powder coated engine components, etc. All the original VIN tags are still present, and the car and paint is the way it left the ///M division in Germany. Looking for $20,000.

Next!

Ah detroit.. it's a lovely city. Are the days of under 10k M5s really gone? As you know that makes me somewhat excited. I have sunk quite a lot in mine.

Not sure what is the deal with the red powder coating.

Don't judge a book by its cover - E28 M5

Don't judge an E28 M5 by its rusty look.

Here we have a decent euro converted E28 M5, with some rust (wait until you see the condition of mine when I got it). The 167k miles might not be realistic looking at the broken trip meter. But who cares it has Schrick cams!

Yes the rear tail needs to be cut out and replaced. The seems by the doors and the fenders are pretty shot. But it is an E28 M5 that needs loving.

I believe overall this is a very nice ride. With some minimal work it can turn into a great driver/track car. With some extra work ($) it could be a real gem.

Don't part it out if you buy it.

M20 Turbo in a BEIGE parts car

This post is the essence of what Classified Treasures is all about.

I know this looks like a pile of crap (let say it now, its beige), but I think i see the potential in it, just like the seller who originally bought it for his E10 2002.

All that should interest you is the drivetrain. If it all functions together in one piece, you got yourself a great package. Drop it in an E30 or E10 or E28.

I don't agree with the comment of an E34 being a boat of a car. I have seen and ridden in a boosted E34 with M20B27 and it brought more smiles to my face than my old E39 M5.

If you want to kill 40 mins, enjoy some of Eastern Europe finest:

So Cal E28 ///M5, not so cheap

Well what do you know, another E28 M5. This time on the other extreme of the spectrum.

This one actually is nice. The owner is on mye28.com and clearly did a great job at building/preserving this car. I am not a huge fan of the tupperware M-tech but to each their own.

The owner stated on mye28 that his reserve is at 20k.

Enjoy some selected shots from his ad.

Cheap E28 ///M5 in South Florida

Cheap is a relative term these days, especially with how oil/gas fluctuates. But there has been a recent trend of E28 M5 prices increasing, and having the snowball effect of the E30 M3. Some say it's all fake, and those cars never actually sell but I would be hard pressed to find a cheap E28 M5 these for under 4k!

Here is one for $6k.

It would be nice if there were more pictures, but seems like there is a lot of place for leverage. Just look at that paint. No mention of mileage either.

On the contrary, in the same state

It has been for sale for a while though.

I will let you be the judge of this market. All I know, I bought mine just on time!

1988 E28 BMW ///M5 in Florida

I have noticed a steady climb in prices of the E28 M5s. It's almost getting the E30 M3 effect. That makes me really excited, primarily because I have one and I have invested a lot in it :grin.

Do they sell for the asking prices? I don't know, but let's assume they do.

I consider myself to be very on par with the pricing of these and I scavenge the Craigslist nationwide frequently.

This is what I found. VIN: WBSDC9302J2791446
