1988 E28 BMW ///M5 in Florida

I have noticed a steady climb in prices of the E28 M5s. It's almost getting the E30 M3 effect. That makes me really excited, primarily because I have one and I have invested a lot in it :grin.

Do they sell for the asking prices? I don't know, but let's assume they do.

I consider myself to be very on par with the pricing of these and I scavenge the Craigslist nationwide frequently.

This is what I found. VIN: WBSDC9302J2791446

BARN FIND alert in the UK 1992 E34 M5

Since we are on the topic of E34s from yesterday, here is something real cool. I wish it was on this side of the pond.

We never have barn finds this cool :sadpanda.

1992 E34 M5, orignally silver, resprayed avus blue when it was nearly new - yes really, the owner was desperate for an M5 so took a silver one straight to the body shop and had it fully painted - it takes ome finding to see it wasn't blue from the factory, when an avus blue one was available he p/x'd this one back in - this was the time of the crazy 90's! So its a project car or a resto project. Its at that point where it needs fully stripping and blasted/repaired/painted, making good and usingor stripping for bits - your choice!! it is the last of the handbuilt M5's so will be a future classic. Its a local Norfolk car all its life, has done 208k miles and then sat in a barn for many years. We pulled it out earlier this year, fully serviced the engine, fired it up and then dyno'd it to see where it was at - it is a superb engine and right on the money power wise for an S38-B36. The gearbox is not happy - the boot is full of a spare one! the rear suspension is hydraulic linked to the pas system - the pipes to the rear have gone so keeping pas fluid in has meant the lines are crimped off - again if its a resto its not a problem, if you were to do a rolling resto then a set of conventional springs for the rear would be needed, rust on sills etc. Still has the original star thrower alloys and all the M5 bits are still in it - stripping it to use the engine leaves a lot of desirable bits to keep other M5's on the go. Will need to be trailered away.

1990 E34 Zinnoberrot 535i

  • Great combo red on black
  • Mighty M30B35 powerplant and overall great condition.
I am not going to comment on the price but here it is - a 1990 E34 535i in Zinno in Tejas. You can count on low rust.

Great grounds for a turbo built and manual transmission. Here is a list of mods you should consider to make this a great looking car, based on my E34 experience. Pictures show for visual representation not the actual vehicle for sale - funny enough its from a for sale ad that covers all my bases.

  • M5 front bumper (not M-Sport, since this a narrow grille car)
  • M5 rear bumper (grab a license plate surround too).
  • M5 skirts (easy to find since all '95 cars came with those) + door trims
  • M-Sport mirrors (not so common but doable)
  • Bosch Smileys (not Hella, the Bosch version is overall a better product) NOTE: this is my old E34, you can see the difference in the M5 and M-Sport bumpers.
  • Clear Turn signals and Tails (really depends on the preference)
  • Black front sport seats (maybe even go for a hurricane alcantara interior)

  • Rear headrests (just to have for no reason)
  • Euro trim, to remove the side markers. Makes the lines much cleaner. The M5 shown above has the trim.
  • M5 shifter surround, once you do the manual transmission swap. Also on the above M5 pictures.
  • Some steering wheel, MTech II.
MK Motorsport Mk1

Rondel 58s - this is my old HE53 540i/6

The Type II ACS wheels

Above recipe should provide one very stunning looking E34, and fast! And fun!
